I've spent over a decade working in property development. I started as a civil engineer and then moved into development management, where I've been responsible for driving the financial and strategic outcomes of projects delivering thousands of lots across large-scale residential communities.
That work sits alongside a long-standing personal interest in politics, finance, and economics. Putting those things together has given me a way of seeing how policy decisions, monetary settings, and market forces connect to the real financial decisions people face, particularly those buying their first home or early in their careers trying to build something for the future. Most of this gets reported in silos. The interest rate decision here, the housing policy announcement there. What I find more useful is understanding how it all fits together as a system.
In recent years I have also become more actively engaged in managing my own investments, both inside and outside of superannuation. I am not a financial advisor and I am not claiming to have it all figured out. But I have a solid foundation of knowledge, I am genuinely working through these questions myself, and I find that sharing that process is more useful than pretending to speak from a position of authority I have not earned.
What frustrates me is how often politicians and institutions strip out the detail. They simplify things to the point of being misleading and in doing so they treat the public as though they cannot handle complexity. I do not think that is true. Most people are far more capable of understanding these issues than they are given credit for. They just need someone to take the time to explain it properly without talking down to them. That is what I am trying to do here.
This site is where I write and build tools around those interests. Some of those tools are built using AI, which I find genuinely interesting both as a practical capability and as a force reshaping labour markets, productivity, and the distribution of wealth. The goal across all of it is to present real information clearly, respect the reader's intelligence, and help people make better decisions about their financial future.
